Honeymoon Holidays: Visit Holland!

Holland is a place full of history, culture, and it’s comforting because if you’re coming from America, it won’t seem hard to manage or so different that you’re lost. There are wonderful cities like Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Limburg, with beauty, peace, and romance. Cassie and her husband spent their honeymoon in Holland at all these cities:

We went on our honeymoon to Holland. We took a straight flight on KLM from Dallas to Amsterdam. The stewards were nice and we got a bottle of champagne on the plane because we were newlyweds. In the morning, we landed in Amsterdam. Everything went smoothly, except that we were very tired because we flew overnight. At Hertz we rented a car and travelled to our hotel to catch up on some sleep. It was the Tulip Inn Amsterdam City West. The hotel was nice, very affordable, and clean. On our trip we visited Amsterdam; the city was lively and nothing was too weird. Madurodam was so cute; it is a model of a city in Holland that was built to scale. The parks in Holland were beautiful; we saw geese and ducks swimming around with their newborns following close behind. However, for the time of the year, it was still chilly and we were not really dressed for it because our home state of Texas was still hot. Rotterdam was a newer city then Amsterdam, but that was mostly because Rotterdam was completely destroyed in the 2nd world war. We had a great time there, as well.

Then we moved slowly to the south, the county called Limburg. It was a completely different Holland then Amsterdam and Rotterdam. While the first two cities were extremely busy, Limburg is an oasis of peace. With parks, hills and lot of green, it is a paradise for nature and culture lovers. The food in Holland is the same as in the U.S., only that it is prepared differently. But you can still find a McDonalds, a Burger King and even a Subway….so home sweet home, if you like fast food, that is. The only thing that we needed to get used to was that you had to pay for every glass of soda and coffee, while in the U.S. we have the free refills. So dining can get pretty expensive, but all in all we had a great time on our European honeymoon.
