Cheap Caribbean Vacation Idea
Can you have a cheap AND romantic Caribbean getaway? Yes! Do what Barry and his wife did on their honeymoon to have a wonderful but affordable time in St. John! With such a wonderful setting, even the affordable route is full of beauty and an exotic excitement!
My wife and I went vacationing in the Caribbean and had a wonderful, cost efficient time. What saved us money was our ability to utilize local food markets to purchase and cook our own food instead of going out to eat every night. I also had a friend who lived on the island, so after three days of the fun hotel life, we spent the rest of the week at his place. Cooking our own food, living rent free, and not paying any of those ridiculous snorkeling prices, all added up to a very cheap but romantic getaway. What struck me the most about it all was that once we were done with our honeymoon, we had enough money to get going on our future plans in life. While honeymoons can be a once in a lifetime opportunity, they don’t necessarily have to drain the bank account at the same time. My advice to any new couples is to find an exotic place that offers cheap hotel fares, local food markets nearby, and if possible choose a place where you can stay with a friend who is a local. If any of these can be accomplished, you’ll leave with great memories and a full wallet. Our trip cost around $3,000, and that included round trip air fare, three nights in a four star hotel, and even a few well catered meals. It wasn’t by any means a frugal honeymoon in the sense of enjoyment, but we managed to shave off about 2,000 extra bucks by staying with my friend and cooking our own meals. We went to St. John and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a fantastic get away.
